For decades, the Toyota Hilux has earned a reputation as one of the toughest pickups on Philippine roads—trusted by businesses, government agencies, off-road enthusiasts, and families alike. Now, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) is ushering the iconic nameplate into a new era with the launch of the all-new ninth-generation Hilux, introducing not only an updated diesel lineup but also the Hilux’s first-ever 4×4 battery-electric vehicle (BEV).
Retail sales officially began on July 21, giving Filipino buyers more powertrain choices than ever before while staying true to the Hilux’s long-standing reputation for durability, reliability, and capability.
A More Modern Look for an Icon
The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux arrives with a sharper, more contemporary appearance built around Toyota’s new “Cyber Sumo” design philosophy. While unmistakably a Hilux, the new model features a wider honeycomb grille, distinctive C-shaped LED headlamps, and a cleaner rear design complemented by a newly integrated deck-side step for easier cargo access.
Different variants receive their own unique styling. The range-topping Conquest adopts a more aggressive front bumper suited for overlanding and outdoor adventures, while the all-electric Hilux BEV distinguishes itself with an enclosed grille that improves aerodynamic efficiency.
Despite its fresh styling, the Hilux retains the rugged proportions buyers expect. Most variants ride on a 3,085-mm wheelbase with up to 312 mm of ground clearance, ensuring the pickup remains ready for challenging terrain. The BEV variant offers 287 mm of ground clearance while maintaining the Hilux’s off-road credentials.
A Cabin Designed for Everyday Comfort
Inside, Toyota has given the Hilux a more refined and driver-focused interior.
Higher variants, including the Conquest and V, receive a new 12.3-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while G and E variants feature an 8-inch touchscreen with wired smartphone connectivity.
The Conquest further elevates the experience with synthetic leather upholstery and an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, giving the cabin a premium feel similar to Toyota’s latest SUV lineup.
The Hilux BEV mirrors many of these premium features. It comes equipped with the same 12.3-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, a Panoramic View Monitor, eight-way power-adjustable seats, and synthetic leather upholstery, making it one of the most well-appointed pickups in Toyota’s local lineup.
Proven Diesel Performance Continues
Under the hood, every internal combustion engine (ICE) variant continues to use Toyota’s proven 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel engine.
The engine produces 204 PS, while torque reaches 420 Nm for manual variants and up to 500 Nm for automatic models—figures that continue to make the Hilux well-suited for hauling, towing, and everyday driving.
Toyota has also improved driving dynamics by introducing Electric Power Steering (EPS) on the V and Conquest variants, providing lighter steering effort at low speeds and improved on-road precision without compromising off-road capability.
The flagship Conquest gains additional off-road technology through Multi-Terrain Select, allowing drivers to optimize vehicle performance across Dirt, Rock, Sand, Mogul, and Mud. It also comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, seven airbags, a Panoramic View Monitor, and an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold.
Toyota’s First Electric Hilux Arrives
The biggest news is the arrival of the Hilux 4×4 BEV—the first fully electric Hilux offered in the Philippines.
Rather than simply replacing the diesel engine with an electric motor, Toyota engineered the BEV on a dedicated ladder-frame platform designed specifically for electric propulsion. The chassis includes reinforced protection for its high-voltage battery and electric axle, allowing the pickup to maintain the durability and off-road capability expected from the Hilux name.
Power comes from a dual-motor electric drivetrain producing a combined 196 PS, with torque split between the front and rear motors for permanent electric all-wheel drive. The setup delivers instant power delivery and improved traction across varying terrain.
A 59.2-kWh lithium-ion battery provides an estimated driving range of up to 315 kilometers under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).
Charging Made Easier
To help owners transition to electric mobility, Toyota includes a complimentary wall charger with home installation for every Hilux BEV purchase.
The pickup supports both AC Type 2 charging and DC CCS2 fast charging, while owners can also recharge at Toyota’s expanding network of authorized BEV dealerships equipped with EV charging stations across Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and key provincial locations.

The launch of the all-new Hilux reflects Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy, allowing customers to choose the powertrain that best suits their needs instead of taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Whether buyers need a dependable diesel pickup for long-distance travel, heavy payloads, towing, or off-road adventures, or prefer an electrified solution for fleet operations and urban mobility, the expanded Hilux lineup offers both options under one nameplate.
The all-new Toyota Hilux diesel range starts at ₱1,772,000, while the Hilux 4×4 BEV is priced at ₱2,990,000.
Celebrating the Hilux Legacy
To mark the arrival of the new Hilux alongside the Land Cruiser FJ and Land Cruiser HEV, Toyota will host the Toyota Legacy Experience from July 31 to August 2 at Eton City Square Village Walk in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
The event will feature heritage vehicle displays, customized classics, off-road driving experiences, Toyota Choice and Beyond Zero exhibits, and activities celebrating the decades-long legacy of Toyota’s 4×4 vehicles in the Philippines.
