The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) marked its 125th founding anniversary on Friday, October 16, with a ceremony at the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal at Pier 15, South Harbor, Manila, highlighting its role in protecting the country’s waters and ensuring maritime safety.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attended the celebration as guest of honor and speaker, alongside Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez, other government officials, and local and international stakeholders.

This year’s anniversary carries the theme, “One Sea, One Mission, One Legacy: 125 Years of Guarding the Nation’s Maritime Future.” The occasion commemorates the PCG’s activation on October 17, 1901, and recognizes more than a century of service in maritime safety, security, law enforcement, and environmental protection.
The celebration also honored PCG personnel and units for their outstanding performance, dedication, and professionalism in carrying out the agency’s responsibilities.

Over the years, the PCG has played a key role in safeguarding lives at sea, enforcing maritime laws, protecting the country’s maritime domain, and preserving the marine environment. As maritime challenges continue to evolve, the organization has also been working to strengthen its operational capabilities and improve its ability to respond to emerging threats and demands.
As it enters its 126th year, the PCG reaffirmed its commitment to building on its legacy and continuing to serve the Filipino people, with a focus on safer waters, stronger maritime security, and a more sustainable marine environment.
