Converge ICT Solutions Inc. and IBPAP inks partnership to further enable BPO sector amidst AI Boom

Leading fiber broadband and technology solutions provider Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has joined forces with the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) to empower the sector employing almost two million Filipinos and generating export earnings worth US$40 billion last year as artificial intelligence (AI) stirs profound transformation in various industries.

“We need to level up the skills of our workers and transform our industries to enable us to capture the opportunities being offered by the AI boom. At Converge, we have laid down the solid foundation through our national digital infrastructure to support industries including our BPOs in their AI journey. The next step is to capacitate our workers with skills necessary to navigate AI and other emerging technologies,” said Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy during the ceremony held at the Converge Global Business headquarters to officially welcome the company as a member of IBPAP.

Representing the collective interest of the IT and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector from over 400 companies, IBPAP is also partnered with six industry-specific associations – the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc., Global Capability Center Philippines, Customer Xperience Association of the Philippines, Game Developers Association of the Philippines, Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines, and the Philippine Software Industry Association.

“During the pandemic, when the world was shutting down, the IT-BPM sector added 260,000 jobs and connectivity made that possible. Converge was central to that story, keeping our people online and our operations running across the country. That’s why welcoming them as our newest Platinum Member isn’t just a recognition of business value–it’s an acknowledgment of a partner who showed up when it mattered most,” IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid said.

Uy underscored that, apart from the perks of industry knowledge-building and networking, the membership presents a prime opportunity for possible collaboration, especially with the prevalence of AI.

“Even before we became a member, my mindset has always been to protect this industry of nearly two million workers. Since we are a global hub of business process outsourcing along with India, I’ve wanted to help upskill workers, especially for artificial intelligence – preparedness,” stressed Uy, raising the need to boost the valuable, export revenue- generating sector.

“We cannot deny that AI is here and will continue to transform industries. Let’s face it: AI handles simple, repetitive tasks cheaper and faster. The future of Philippine BPOs is in complex work, which requires upgrading our workforce from basic support to highly skilled specialists. To make this shift happen, we are here to support the government and the private sector in driving the next wave of growth for this industry,” he pointed out.

In 2025, IBPAP reported it has a workforce of 1.9 million workers and export revenues amounting to US$40 billion, accounting for over 8% of the country’s gross domestic product.
