Green GSM launches EV rental program for TNVS drivers in the Philippines

Green GSM has launched an electric vehicle rental program in the Philippines, giving TNVS drivers access to VinFast EVs with lower upfront costs and a pathway to vehicle ownership after five years.

Green GSM has introduced an electric vehicle (EV) rental program in the Philippines aimed at helping transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers transition to electric mobility without the high upfront cost of buying a vehicle.

The program allows drivers to rent a VinFast electric vehicle through Green GSM, with an opportunity to own the vehicle after five years. It is built around the company’s “5 Ready” commitment, covering vehicle access, charging, platform connectivity, driver support, and earning opportunities.

The initiative comes as fluctuating fuel prices continue to put pressure on the operating costs and take-home earnings of ride-hailing drivers.

Green GSM targets rising operating costs for TNVS drivers

Fuel price movements remain a major concern for TNVS drivers, whose daily earnings are directly affected by the cost of keeping their vehicles on the road.

During the week of October 6 to 12, 2026, gasoline prices increased by as much as PHP 1.93 per liter, with pump prices in Metro Manila ranging from approximately PHP 89 to PHP 100 per liter. Diesel prices, meanwhile, dropped by PHP 1.30 per liter but remained around PHP 94 per liter, according to the Department of Energy.

Against this backdrop, electric vehicles offer an alternative for drivers looking to reduce fuel-related expenses. However, the cost of purchasing an EV, access to charging facilities, and uncertainty over potential earnings can make the transition difficult.

Green GSM’s rental program seeks to address these concerns by giving drivers access to a new VinFast EV without requiring them to make a substantial upfront investment.

Drivers can choose from three models designed for ride-hailing operations: the VinFast VF 5, Herio Green, and Limo Green. The program has an initial cost starting at PHP 5,000, with daily rental rates beginning at PHP 1,040.

The VF 5 and Herio Green are five-seater vehicles intended for everyday passenger trips, while the seven-seater Limo Green provides additional space for larger groups.

According to Green GSM, drivers could save up to 30% on operating costs compared with similar gasoline-powered vehicles, based on an estimated monthly distance of 3,000 kilometers over five years.

The arrangement is intended to accommodate both experienced TNVS drivers looking to lower their operating expenses and licensed drivers who want to enter the ride-hailing industry but do not own a vehicle.

After five years, participating drivers will have a path to vehicle ownership, allowing them to work toward acquiring an asset while earning through the platform.

Green GSM’s ‘5 Ready’ commitment for driver partners

Beyond vehicle access, the rental program includes a package of services and incentives under Green GSM’s “5 Ready” commitment.

Under Vehicle Ready, drivers gain access to VinFast electric vehicles through the rental arrangement. Platform Ready connects them with passengers through the Green GSM ride-hailing platform.

For Energy Ready, drivers can use the V-Green charging network and receive free charging until March 31, 2029, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

The Earnings Ready component offers drivers a revenue-sharing rate of up to 90%, with potential monthly earnings reaching PHP 90,000. Actual earnings will depend on driving activity, operating performance, and applicable program conditions.

Meanwhile, Support Ready covers assistance throughout the onboarding process, including guidance on documentation, vehicle registration, permits, insurance, and driver training.

Through the program, Green GSM aims to make electric mobility more accessible to TNVS drivers while helping them manage operating expenses and work toward vehicle ownership.
