Pope Francis safe arrival in the Philippines

Pope Francis visit to the Philippines

The Pontiff His Holiness Pope Francis arrived earlier than expected at the Terminal 3 at the Villamor Air base around 5 p.m. today.

His Excellency, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, Jr. and members of his cabinet and other government officials, met him at the Red Carpet as he goes town the Sri Lanka airplane. He greeted everyone including the People from the Clergy, Bishops from the different parts of the Philippines were also there.

What is amazing is that people waited as early as 2 p.m., human barricade volunteers, people from the different barangays, mediamen and the Police were standing their ground since 3 p.m. to guarantee the safe passage of the #Pontiff in his way to the official residence in Taft avenue, Manila.

I actually waited and stood for more than 2 hours along Buendia and Roxas boulevard right at the foot of the overpass hoping he would take the upper flight and would be able to get a glimpse of him, even a chance to take some shots.

Apparently, the Pontiff took the service road southbound as people were along the northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard.

Despite that, people were happy and fulfilled and waved happily as the Pope has passed safely.

A quick observation though, all mobile networks Globe, Sun, Smart, PLDT landline, were all out of service for more than 2 hours. I don’t know if it was a security measure but it was hard to contact friends and was out of reach for that time.
