Fujifilm, a Japanese Multinational Company, also the first Japanese producer of photographic films, re-invents the wheel in digital photography when they developed and manufactured their own X-series mirrorless compact cameras, with the Fujinon lens which are available in the market today.
During the Photoworld Asia 2015, Fujifilm landscape X-Photographers our very own Randall Cipriano, and Japanese Masaaki Aihara conducted 2 sessions to owners of Fujifilm X-Series cameras. The morning session held at UCC Mentore in Makati, a deep down technical session on landscape tricks and gadgets, settings and techniques was discussed by Randall.
He showed differences between time exposures, what is best to use, what not to use and even showed the proper application and use of 3 step, 6 step and 9 step filters. He also discussed the variations of settings that differ from X100, X30,XT1 and XE1. He also gave suggestions on what software to use and photoshop was not his favorite stuff.
Randall also discussed on what 3rd party devices like ovalmeter, triggers, filters and even choosing the right tripod. 90 minutes wasn’t enough for the morning session. I learned a lot and discovered a lot more about what Fujifilm cameras can do out of the box.
Masaaki’s turn was entertaining as it was hard for him to describe in English. He showed all the pictures he took during his trips and also showed Japanese photography. Landscape in Japan especially in the mountainsides, during snow, at night and during fall are really amazing views that can only be seen in Japan.
Masaaki’s techniques are straight out of the camera. Just like sushi he says, rice and fish rolled together, that’s also his approach in photography. Simple and basic techniques only.
The 2 hour session ended and i appreciate the invite from Fujifilm as i have learned some new things from 2 great X-Photographers in the field of landscape photography.
The second session was for Cityscape night shot photography that was conducted at 71 Grammercy last saturday evening which i wasn’t able to attend due to personal commitment.
Keep it up Fujifilm, wish you can do this more often.
Sayang na miss ko ito 🙁
