Travel without the hassle with Smart’s expanded data roaming coverage in 110 countries

Blogging has surprisingly become my passion and also a staple part of my lifestyle these past year despite being encumbered with all the things that I have to do on a regular basis like work, school for my Master’s and juggling it with my gigs on the side to earn some extra moolah.

Blogging has been my stress outlet and also something that I look forward to every coming week since no two events are the same and I never get bored because there is always something that I look forward to. (Yey! More adventures for me!!) 🙂

Not only to I get to meet new and amazing friends but I also get to experience getting the first dibs on the new collections of various well known brands or get a look at their new products before it finally outs itself in the market.

Special thanks  and credits goes to Sir Eli! 🙂 One of my blogging mentors and also a friend who without him I would not be able to attend some of the events in my blog since he sends me off sometimes as his representative in some awesome events. He also introduced me to some PR contact persons who sometimes directly message me for event invites. Thank you so much Sir Eli ! 🙂

One of these is the Smart Event held last Tuesday at the posh grounds of the Edsa Shangrila Hotel. Check out also My Post Here 🙂

Being an avid traveler myself whether it be climbing mountains and terrains like Mt. Pulag or Mt. Apo or be it abroad what often comes to my mind is my internet connection and how I will be able to update and keep connected to my social networking sites like my facebook page , instagram page where I usually post my photos and the beautiful sights that I seem to appreciate and see along the way or to my twitter acount wherein I usually post my status updates on what I think about the place or just my random musings along the way.

Basically we are all living in such a hyper connected world where we have that innate need to stay connected 24/7 and share our awesome adventures with our friends and followers alike. 🙂

Good thing companies like Smart understands our need to be connected with our social networking sites anywhere in the world without the bill shock that comes along with it. (This is usually my common issue when I travel abroad! The steep bill that comes along with it!! ) 🙂

Unrivalled mobile leader Smart Communications (Smart) is expanding the coverage of its Surf Abroad 550 data roaming package to cover more than 110 countries around the world — the widest data roaming network available to Filipino travelers today.

Moreover, Surf Abroad 550 is now available as a fully automated service for Smart Postpaid subscribers for a worry-free data roaming experience. (Yey!)

Smart’s improved data roaming offers cater to a growing market of young travelers, often referred to as “millennials,” which are increasingly traveling for leisure in other countries given new overseas routes and lower airfare promos made available by local airlines.

So how do you go about it now?

  1. Turn on ‘data roaming’ on your data-enabled phones and you will instantly be connected to their preferred roaming partners in that country. No more need to register via text or call their roaming hotline. This is part of their commitment to allow their subscribers to live the ‘Smart Life’ even while traveling overseas,”
  2. From just 57 countries in 2014, Smart’s data roaming coverage has now been expanded to more than 53 additional countries, including top tourism destinations such as Myanmar, India, Finland, and Luxembourg, among many others. By the end of the year, the list will further be expanded to include a total of 180 countries around the world.

How awesome is this? 🙂 Get connected from anywhere in the world! 🙂

The service is expected to contribute to the skyrocketing growth of Smart’s mobile data business, which has already registered a sharp 21% year-on-year growth to reach P4.7 billion during the first six months of 2015.

‘Internet’ an important travel amenity

The simple and hassle-free enhancements to Smart’s data offers appeal particularly to millennial travelers, according to Mariano, especially since they are the types of travelers who are always eager to instantly capture and share their experiences online via Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks.

These types of travelers demand an always-on, instant-sharing experience when traveling abroad, which is why Smart has made it very convenient and affordable for them to connect to the Internet while traveling in other countries, Mariano shared,

Available for only P550 per day, Smart’s Surf Abroad 550 will give users high-speed mobile Internet connections in covered countries, valid for one day

The new offer is powered by a network-lock technology that makes sure the service only works on partner networks, and eliminates the hassle of having to manually select a roaming partner whenever a subscriber wants to access data services.

By automatically registering to the service with preferred roaming partners abroad, subscribers will no longer have to suffer from “bill shock” when they return to the country.

Once the service is active, subscribers will receive an SMS notification informing them that they have already been subscribed to the enhanced Surf Abroad 550 package.
