MANILA, Philippines — January 29, 2026 — Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has rolled out a revised battery subscription policy in the Philippines, a move the company says can reduce upfront electric vehicle (EV) ownership costs by up to 20 percent, making EVs more accessible to Filipino consumers.
Under the updated policy, buyers can choose between purchasing a VinFast vehicle with the battery included or opting for a battery subscription model, which significantly lowers the initial purchase price. Monthly battery subscription fees start at PHP 1,600, depending on the vehicle model and driving distance.
VinFast said the changes are part of its broader push to accelerate electric vehicle adoption in the Philippines by addressing one of the biggest barriers for consumers: high upfront costs.
Lower upfront prices, flexible monthly fees
With the battery subscription option, customers pay a reduced vehicle price and a monthly battery fee based on usage. Subscription rates are structured according to mileage, with different tiers for drivers traveling up to or beyond 2,000 kilometers per month.

“Lifetime battery warranty” for subscribers
VinFast describes the battery subscription as a “lifetime battery warranty” solution, with the company retaining full responsibility for battery health throughout the subscription period. This includes maintenance, repairs, and free battery replacement once capacity falls below 70 percent.
Battery-related damage from accidents is also covered under the subscription policy, a feature VinFast says helps reduce long-term ownership risks and unexpected costs for EV owners.
For customers who prefer to purchase the vehicle with the battery included, VinFast continues to offer a battery warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometers, ensuring coverage regardless of the ownership model.
Executive: Policy aims to make EVs practical for Filipino households
Antonio Zara, Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Southeast Asia, said the revised policy is designed to make electric vehicles a realistic option for more Filipino families.
“With our pioneering battery subscription policy, we aim to remove the biggest concerns of Philippine consumers, helping VinFast electric vehicles become a truly practical and accessible choice for every household,” Zara said.
“This also reaffirms VinFast’s commitment to rewriting the rules of the market and creating the most favorable conditions for customers in the green transition.”
Part of a broader EV push in the Philippines
The updated battery subscription program builds on VinFast’s existing initiatives in the Philippine market, including free charging at stations operated by strategic partner V-Green, flexible financing options with low down payments, and a residual value guarantee that offers returns of up to 90 percent of the vehicle’s original price.
After more than a year in the country, VinFast has expanded its EV lineup and strengthened its aftersales network through authorized dealerships and partnerships aimed at developing charging infrastructure and service facilities nationwide.
The company said these efforts are intended to ensure consistent vehicle support and easier access to EV services as demand for electric mobility continues to grow in the Philippines.
