Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the country’s official distributor of Hyundai vehicles, honored
Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang and Hyundai Trucks and Buses Commonwealth for excellence in Sales and After Sales Operations, respectively, at HARI’s annual Commercial Vehicle (CV) Dealer Awards. The two stood out from among HARI’s 14-strong CV dealership network for excellence in the two key areas of the business.

This year’s virtual Dealer Awards is the first for the HARI CV business and has turned out more meaningful amid the challenges posed by COVID-19. It was celebrated with the theme THE GREAT RESET, reflecting HARI’s new approach and renewed drive towards delivering its customer promise of “Right Care, A Step Ahead.”

The event was graced by the online presence of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) Commercial Vehicle executives, led by Mr. Incheol Lee, Executive Vice President/Head of HMC Commercial Vehicles Division, and the HARI Board of Directors, led by President and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo.

In a prepared message, from Mr. Don Ho Choi, Head and Senior Vice President of HMC’s Commercial Vehicle Export Group, HMC extended warm congratulations to the CV dealer principals in attendance: “Your good example in providing excellent customer experience inspires your colleagues in the Philippines as well as the global Hyundai network of CV distributorships. Keep up the good job.”

For her part, Ms. Agudo praised the network’s united efforts at maintaining Hyundai among the Top Five CV brands in the country: “While COVID has impacted the economy, our business, and even our personal lives, it has not affected our aspirations for Hyundai Trucks and Buses to be a partner in every way towards a Better Normal.”

In acknowledgement, Mr. William B. Chiongbian II, Dealer Principal of Hyundai Trucks and Buses Alabang said, “The pandemic has shown opportunities for the use of our public utility vehicles. We shall continue to be relevant. Our hearts are warm again today.”

While Atty. Anna Lyne San Juan-Ponferrada, President of Hyundai Trucks and Buses Commonwealth said, “2020 has been a good year for all of us. This award will really inspire us and give us renewed energy to face the challenges ahead.”

HMC and Ms. Agudo cited the CV dealership network’s positive response to rebound and recover from these unprecedented times, particularly their strong support for the implementation of the Hyundai Guidelines for Protection and Safety (GPS), a comprehensive set of procedures and programs aimed at safeguarding the well-being of stakeholders, restoring consumer confidence, and wining back customers in the New Normal.

Despite the year’s challenges, the HARI CV Division turned out winning performances:

  1. The first brand to launch commercial vehicles with safety and social distancing provisions for the new normal using the HD36L medium truck and the HD-50S Modern Jeepney Class-2 and 3 platforms.
  2. Recognized as Hyundai’s Best in Aftersales Operations 2020 for the third straight year, besting over 50 distributors of Hyundai Trucks and Buses worldwide.
  3. The first player in the country’s Public Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) to complete its lineup of three Modern Jeepneys certified by the Department of Transportation

And, at the height of the lockdowns, Hyundai commercial vehicles were deployed to various under-served areas of Northern and Southern Luzon to aid the transport needs of hospitals and medical front liners.

To cap the event, Ms. Agudo challenged the network to put Hyundai trucks and buses at the forefront of the country’s economic recovery: “Let us remain as solid, as sensible, and as adaptable as the products that we sell. This is what RESET for HARI CV is all about: RESILIENCE in the face of present and future challenges. Always aiming for the perfect EXECUTION of your innovative programs. Quick to set aside a good idea for an even better one, in the spirit of SYNERGY. Because the be-all and end-all is to deliver a winning Customer EXPERIENCE. Pursuing that goal with the TENACITY of a champion. This is how we forge on in the face of uncertain times to achieve a BETTER NORMAL for all—our customers, our industry and our economy.”
