Pit Senyor, Sinulog feast of the Santo Nino celebrated in Cebu

3rd Sunday is the celebration of Sinulog, feast of the child Jesus. Sinulog is celebrated in two major locations namely Cebu and Kabankalan.

People from all over the Philippines, local tourists and foreign tourists come to this festivities. As it coincides with the Pope’s visit, it was also the center of the celebration during the Pope’s mass at Luneta Park today.

The child Jesus also called locally as the Santo Nino, is a recollection of Christ early childhood as he became man. This is also the message that is being reminded to us that each and everyone of us has a childhood inherent in our hearts.

The dancing on the streets with the image of the Santo Nino is a well-known yearly event waited by people in Cebu where the major streets have been closed the night before to give way for devotees to visit the churches.

A dance contest for best interpretation, best costume and also best photo are some of the highlights of the yearly event in Cebu.
