Globe Telecom users have the best experience when streaming video, playing multiplayer mobile games, and using voice apps – both overall and on 5G. In a report released by Opensignal from a survey with data collected during the period from January 1 to March 31, 2023.
Globe Telecom has managed a remarkable feat — replacing Smart as the outright winner for all three overall experiential awards (Video Experience, Games Experience, Voice App Experience. In addition, it is also the sole winner of the corresponding 5G experience awards, as it retains 5G Video Experience from the last report, and now wins 5G Games Experience and 5G Voice App Experience outright — after statistically tying with Smart for first place for both awards.

Globe gains ground on overall Games Experience, but Smart wins the award
Globe Telecom users saw the greatest improvement in their overall experience when playing multiplayer mobile games over cellular connections since our last report. The operator’s score rose by nine points (23.8%), while DITO’s increased by 4.7 points (11.4%) and Smart’s was statistically unchanged. This has moved Globe into second place and cut Smart’s lead down from 12.9 points to 7.8.
Globe comes top for 5G Upload Speed
Globe Telecom has overturned Smart’s 3.6 Mbps lead in the last report, to win the 5G Upload Speed award outright with a score of 12.8 Mbps. It wins by a margin of 1.4 Mbps. Globe’s victory was driven by a 1.8 Mbps increase in the average 5G upload speeds seen by our Globe users and a 3.2 Mbps decline in those seen by Smart users.

Globe wins both Excellent and Core Consistent Quality awards outright
Globe wins the Excellent Consistent Quality award with a 7.8 percentage points margin over second-placed Smart. In Core Consistent Quality, Globe beat DITO by 12.8 percentage points. Our measures of consistent quality quantify how often users’ experience on a network was sufficient to support common applications’ requirements. Excellent Consistent Quality analyzes the percentage of users’ tests that met the minimum recommended thresholds for watching HD video, completing group video conference calls and playing games. Core Consistent Quality uses thresholds for less demanding applications.
