Today, Kalesa is undeniably a tourist attraction more than a means of conveyance. Antiquated by the passing of time and inattention for its tourism potentials, this transport system that traces its roots to Spanish colonial rule will be given a life anew. Kalesa and its role in our country’s history or even its economic impact at some point in time is the focus of the National Association of Independent Travel Agencies (NAITAS) when it holds its first “NAITAS Travel and Trade Show”. Part of the proceeds of the event will benefit the revitalization of the Kalesa tourism attractiveness to help the livelihood of our kababayan and ultimately to promote the country’s tourism as a whole.
“NAITAS Travel and Trade Show” is set to unfold in the country’s current premier convention address, the SMX Convention Center Hall 2 at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City on May 29, 30 & 31, 2015. This modest initiative is in response to the thrusts of our Department of Tourism and Department of Trade & Industry towards a more vibrant tourism & business outlook for the country this year.
