The Executive Order No. 1 issued by Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada from the City Government of Manila, declares all classes and work in government offices in Manila on January 9 are suspended for the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada released on January 5 declaring no classes for all levels in all universities, colleges, and schools; and work in all departments, offices, and bureaus in the City Government of Manila.

“To ensure public order, safety, and convenience, and to reduce traffic congestion during the occasion”, the Traffic Management Committee, the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and the Manila Police District recommended the suspension. However, the suspension of work in all private offices in Manila is under the discretion of their own managements.
