MANILA – De La Salle hotshot Kib Montalbo, Batang Gilas players Lorenzo Navarro and Rhayyan Amsali, SLAM Rising Stars Ricci Rivero, Tyler Tio, Aljun Jay Melecio and Ateneo de Manila prize recruit Hubert Cani will see action on Sunday, April 26 at the exhibition game of the National Training Camp of Jr. NBA/Jr. NBA Philippines 2015 presented by Alaska.
Dubbed the Jr. NBA All-Stars Alumni Game, the annual oncourt reunion of the distinguished products of the Jr. NBA program, will take place at 12 noon at the Mall of Asia Music Hall as a centerpiece event of the last day of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA competitions. It will also showcase the talents of new San Sebastian Stag Patrick Ramirez, incoming Letran Knight Ichie Altamirano, UST Growling Tiger Thristan Laman, Mapua standout Justin Serrano, NU Bulldog Regille Kent Ilagan, UP Fighting Maroons Henry Asilum, Jarrell Lim and Seaoil-NBTC hero Janjan Jaboneta, Ateneo de Davao Eagles Miguel Competente and Mahloney Tarranza, and Carlo Escalambre. Junior players like UST Tiger Cubs Vince Ferrer, Vince Dolendo and Jan Cyril Narvasa, De La Salle Zobel‘s Marvin Sario, De La Salle Greenhills’ Luigi Velasco and NU Bull Pup Paul Manalang will also play in the exciting match-up that will be coached by NBA hot rookie, Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers and WNBA All-Star Ruth Riley of the Atlanta Dream.
Guaranteed to be a must-watch for youth and collegiate ball aficionados, the exhibition game will also be attended by the very first batch of Jr. WNBA All-Star Alumni : Arielle Lanot from De La Salle Zobel, and Kreecie Binaohan and Roxanne Salvador of University of Perpetual Help System.
Action in the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA National Training Camp will resume after the exhibition game, with the new batch of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Philippines All-Stars for 2015 to be announced in the afternoon.
The Jr. NBA program was first conducted in the Philippines in 2007 and has more than doubled in participation in the past six years. Each year a new city benefits from the grassroots basketball program that involves not just young players but also their parents and coaches. This year, more than 80,000 students, parents, and coaches will benefit through Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA activities including camps and clinics, NBA Cares outreach activities, television programs and digital initiatives.
