Globe Telecom and the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) have partnered to revolutionize digital banking security through a cutting-edge Proof of Concept (POC) for Silent Network Authentication (SNA). This innovative technology aims to drastically reduce fraud linked to One-Time Passwords (OTPs) while delivering a smoother, safer banking experience for Filipino users.
As part of Globe’s G Verify suite—a portfolio of advanced, network-powered verification and anti-fraud solutions—Silent Network Authentication leverages real-time network intelligence and secure APIs to authenticate users instantly. This eliminates the need for traditional SMS codes or manual verification steps, making digital transactions faster and more secure.
Both Globe and BPI, key members of the Ayala Group, are testing this real-time, network-level identity verification to ensure that only legitimate users can access their accounts. The collaboration reflects their shared commitment to building a safer and more seamless digital ecosystem for all Filipinos.
“Security and simplicity go hand in hand,” said KD Dizon, Vice President and Head of Globe Business. “Our work with BPI is proving that Silent Network Authentication can enhance user confidence by enabling safe, effortless transactions in real-world banking scenarios.”
Alex Seminiano, BPI Chief Technology Officer, emphasized the bank’s dedication to customer protection: “At BPI, safeguarding our clients is fundamental. This POC lets us explore a frictionless, advanced authentication method that strengthens security without complicating the user experience.”
The technical validation phase successfully integrated BPI’s test application with Globe’s Network Exposure Platform (NEP), providing instant identity verification without relying on SMS or extra user input. This breakthrough aligns with global standards set by GSMA and CAMARA, highlighting Globe’s leadership in digital trust and innovation in the Philippines.
This initiative is part of Globe’s broader Open Gateway program, which unlocks network capabilities through APIs for enterprise partners. Globe is also engaging with other major banks and e-commerce platforms to expand the use of network-powered authentication, fostering a more secure and interconnected digital economy.
“We’re building a digital future grounded in trust,” added Dizon. “Silent Network Authentication is a testament to how Globe leverages network intelligence and strategic partnerships to deliver smarter, more user-friendly digital solutions for Filipinos.”
In line with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ vision for adaptive and future-ready financial security, Globe Business and BPI are leading efforts to redefine digital identity and authentication in the country. This POC highlights how collaboration and innovation are key to creating a secure digital landscape for every Filipino and enterprise.
