Summer is here! As temperatures rise, Filipinos are looking to bring a beach body along with them for those much-anticipated getaways from March to May.

“Watching what you eat will be even more important for keeping in shape,” says RJ Buenaventura, General Manager for Philips Personal Health. “Finding the perfect balance between delicious and healthy is key to enjoying yourself this season.”

As of late, calorie-counting diet plans have been gaining popularity. Depending on the food provider, this can cost you up to P13,000 monthly. According to Buenaventura, however, staying in shape doesn’t have to be expensive.

He elaborates, “The key to an effective diet is the preparation process. Choose healthier ingredients in the supermarket and use kitchen tools that are health-friendly.”

For instance, fried food breading is notoriously unhealthy. Eating fried chicken or pan pizza significantly increases your low-density or ‘bad’ cholesterol. Unfortunately, fried foods are staples to everyday diets—but there are healthier alternatives in preparing them.

With the help of Philips kitchen tools, you can be your very own diet planner. Buenaventura adds, “This goes a long way in ensuring your health not just for the summer, but throughout the entire year.”

80% less fat

Powered by Rapid Air Technology, the Philips Airfryer uses an integrated filter and superheated air instead of oil to cook. It cuts down cholesterol and removes up to 80% of fat, while leaving food wonderfully crispy outside and amazingly tender inside. What’s more, it can be used to roast, bake, and gratinate a wide array of dishes.

“This is the perfect kitchen partner to help you get through the summer in shape,” says JC Gallegos, Business Development Manager for Philips Consumer Lifestyle. “Not to mention, it is also great for those cookouts you’ve been planning.”

This low fat fryer is spacious enough to accommodate layers of food and even a whole chicken inside its basket. Furthermore, it is very portable so it can be easily lugged around for those picnics and outdoor parties.

“With the right tools, creating healthy recipes to keep you in top shape during the summer months is easy,” Gallegos shares. “Going back to the basics is necessary, and in terms of following a healthy diet plan, that means starting in your kitchen.”

Philips teams up with Erwan Heussaff inside the kitchen

To help kitchen aficionados find the perfect balance between healthy and delicious, Philips has teamed up with food personality ErwanHeussaff for a series of easy-to-do recipe videos to be streamed on YouTube and his blog, www.thefatkidinside.com

“We want to show Filipinos that a healthier lifestyle starts inside their kitchens,” says Buenaventura. “Erwan certainly knows his way around the kitchen and he has plenty of easy-to-do, guiltless recipes perfect for satisfying our summer food cravings.”

The cooking series will feature a new recipe every week until April 15. For the first episode, Erwan demonstrated how to prepare a healthier version of Parmesan Fries using the Philips Airfryer.

As part of the partnership, Erwan is also inviting home chefs to join an exciting online contest. All you need to do is submit your best Airfryer recipes to him via THEFATKIDINSIDE Facebook page. The author of the winning recipe will enjoy a scrumptious dinner for two prepared by the popular foodie himself.

Buenaventura concludes, “Eating healthy starts in your own kitchen, with the right ingredients and kitchen appliances. With a bit of creativity and resourcefulness, you can eat mouthwatering meals without feeling guilty.”
