Delta Air Lines extends expiring travel credits through year-end 2022 as part of the US airline’s plan of giving customers with travel credits more flexibility in their travel.
While airplane tickets normally expire on year after purchase, effective immediately Delta is extending the validity of:
- All tickets expiring in 2021 to expire Dec. 31, 2022
All tickets purchased in 2021 to expire Dec. 31, 2022
In addition to that extension, Delta Air Lines is also extending its existing change fee waiver for all Basic Economy tickets purchased through April 30, 2021 and all tickets that originate outside of North America.
In a statement, Sandeep Dube, S.V.P. – Pricing and Revenue Management said “Delta has consistently delivered new ways of simplifying travel and giving customers more control over managing their plans, and we’re keeping that promise…We’ve already removed change fees for most tickets for good, and now we’re taking it one step further by giving customers even more time to use their travel credits. Our Delta CareStandard commitment provides layers of protection not just for safer travel, but for more flexible travel, too – and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
It can be remembered that in April 2020, the airline giant extended tickets that have been impacted by the onset of the pandemic, or those purchased prior to April 17, 2020, that were scheduled to travel on or after March 1, 2020, through the end of 2022.
In another statement, Delta Air Lines clarified that whether last year’s holiday trip was canceled and customers need more time to use an eCredit, or they’re considering booking a summary getaway, Delta Air Lines will safeguard the value of their ticket if or when plans change.
As for Filipinos, the airline announced that “as soon as (they) are ready to rebook, they can easily make a change on delta.com or the Fly Delta app.”
More flexibility with no change fees
Delta’s waiver makes it easier for all customers to book their trips with complete confidence, regardless of a Basic Economy ticket or travel origin. We’ve also made lasting changes to help simplify travel into a seamless, stress-free experience.
Corporate social responsibility during the pandemic
As part of Delta Air Lines’ commitment to health standards, it has implemented layers of protection for its passengers. In addition to stringent health and safety efforts, it has enforced a strict quality assurance program for cleanliness with its partner clinic, May Clinic, and also Emory and Reckitt.
Furthermore the airline has worked with Transport Security Administration (TSA) to ensure checkpoint cleanliness in airports nationwide and roll out antimicrobial bins to screening lanes at select Delta hubs.
