Smart Araneta Coliseum gets the Safety Seal from Local Government of Quezon City

Smart Araneta Coliseum, one of the biggest indoor entertainment venues in the country, is adding another recognition under its belt after it was granted a Safety Seal certification from the local government of Quezon City last November 18.

The recognition makes the Big Dome one of the first and biggest indoor venues to receive a Safety Seal. In attendance were: Margie Santos of the local government of Quezon City; Irene Jose, Uniprom Inc COO, Antonio Mardo, SVP for Operations of the Araneta Group; and Noel Loenor, Chief of Staff of the Araneta Group.

“The Safety Seal is a testament that we are continuously working with the government in keeping Smart Araneta Coliseum a safe multi-purpose venue,” Irene Jose, COO of Uniprom Inc. said.

The Safety Seal was awarded to the Big Dome following a strict evaluation of the health and safety standards that the venue has put in place.  The Safety Seal is proof that business establishments comply with minimum health protocols, like the wearing of masks and face shields and the use of the City’s accredited contact tracing app, KyusiPass.

As the country makes strides towards a return to normalcy, this Safety Seal is an important step towards the eventual resumption of live events in the near future. With the easing of quarantine restrictions, many are clamoring for the return of live entertainment and sporting events. And when it comes to sports and entertainment, Smart Araneta Coliseum has been the home of the most anticipated events in the last 60 years.

“With this certificate, we are showing that we are ready to welcome the public back. And, we will make sure that necessary health and safety protocols will remain in place to keep everyone — the event organizers, promoters, our partners and corporate clients, and the audience — safe in the Big Dome,” Jose said.

The Big Dome implements enhanced safety protocols in line with the government’s mandate. This includes temperature checks, strict implementation of the mandatory wearing of masks, and periodic sanitation of all high-contact places.

Aside from the Smart Araneta Coliseum, other establishments in Araneta City that have been granted a Safety Seal by Quezon City are Gateway Mall, Farmers Plaza, Ali Mall, and the Gateway Cineplex 10 and Ali Mall Cinemas. Business establishments like wet markets, retail stores, restaurants, coffee shops, and eateries are likewise strongly encouraged to apply for a Safety Seal from the Quezon City Local Government.

Even banks, pawnshops, money changers, and remittance centers are also advised to apply for a Safety Seal.  Other businesses like car washes, laundry service centers, art galleries, libraries, museums, and zoos; sports centers, gyms, and spas; tutorial, testing, and review centers; and cinemas and arcades are also enjoined to get the Safety Seal to reassure the public that they implement health and safety protocols.
