MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippines’ culinary scene will once again take center stage as the MICHELIN Guide prepares to unveil its second restaurant selection for Manila and Environs and Cebu on October 29, 2026.
The MICHELIN Guide Restaurant Ceremony will be held at the Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts, bringing together chefs, restaurateurs, industry leaders, partners and members of the media for an evening celebrating the country’s evolving dining scene.
The 2027 edition marks the second year of the MICHELIN Guide’s presence in the Philippines, following the launch of its inaugural Manila and Environs and Cebu selection. The return comes as the guide continues to highlight the country’s culinary heritage alongside a new generation of chefs and restaurateurs shaping its dining landscape.
The ceremony also coincides with a milestone year for the MICHELIN Guide, as the global gastronomy community marks the 100th anniversary of the MICHELIN Star. First introduced in 1926, the star system has become one of the world’s best-known distinctions for culinary excellence.
The new selection will recognize restaurants across several MICHELIN Guide distinctions. Restaurants may receive One, Two or Three MICHELIN Stars for exceptional cuisine, while the Bib Gourmand distinction recognizes establishments offering good-quality food at good value. MICHELIN Selected restaurants are also included in the guide for meeting its standards and being considered worthy of a visit.
As with other MICHELIN Guide selections worldwide, restaurants are assessed independently and anonymously by MICHELIN Guide Inspectors. Their evaluations are based on five universal criteria: the quality of ingredients, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, the personality of the cuisine, and consistency over time and across the menu.
Beyond the awards themselves, the October 29 ceremony will showcase the people and restaurants contributing to the Philippines’ growing reputation as a culinary destination.
Guests at the invitation-only event will be treated to a curated food and beverage program featuring MICHELIN Guide-recognized international and local chefs.
The MICHELIN Guide Restaurant Ceremony for Manila and Environs and Cebu 2027 will also be streamed online through the MICHELIN Guide Asia YouTube channel, allowing diners and food enthusiasts to follow the announcement beyond the event venue.
