This mission started when an Ayala executive retires from his thriving corporate life and pioneered te country’s generics industry.
Teodoro Ferrer known to his peers as Teddy started Generika Drugstore in September 2003 to address the need for quality and affordable medicines and promote the use of generic drugs as an alternative to the already premium-priced branded drugs.
Fast forward to today, the drugstore that is air conditioned and has state-of-the-art Point of Sale system, has now 630 stores nationwide.
Generika Drugstore is now part of the Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. which bolstered to provide even better healthcare services to every Juan.

And if affordable generic medicine is not enough, the drugstore has added services free of charge. For every purchase of medicine you will be provided with Gamot Guide. A printed guide on how to take the medicine you just bought. Now you don’t have to memorize the time of the day when you need to take one.
Blood pressure monitoring and blood sugar testing are also offered for free in the drug store.
Generika MEDPadala
Now sending money over to you loved-ones in the province for their medical needs can be diverted to anything that is close the the stomach. The emergency fund for the medicine can be used to buy rice instead for the food of the day.
That’s where MED Padala comes in. It is a form of gift certificate that is paid by cash or credit card by the sender and received by the recepient through SMS thru a credit points. It is not cash.
The MED Padala credit can be used by the recepient to buy medicine from Generika Drugstore.
If you need to gift a loved-one, relative or a friend with medicines, MED Padala gift certificates can be purchased to in all Generika outlets, or its partners like LBC, Ventaja PayRemit, PayVenue, Ayanah, Beam adn Go and many more.
This initiative is so unique, I think Generika should be awarded for this.
What’s next
Five years from now, Generika Drugstore aims to reach more than 1,000 outlets nationwide. With Gabay Generika serviing as a strong anchor for better public service, MEDPadala as a means to improve access to medication, and its own brand Actimed, more Filipinos can no improve their overall well-being.
