B. Braun Avitum has been recertified with ISO 9001:2015 for quality management system (QMS), the global benchmark for organizations in continuous improvement, consistent provision of products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Through remote audit B. Braun Avitum received the ISO certification from third-party auditor TUV Rheinland back in November 2020 notwithstanding the ongoing Covid pandemic.

B. Braun Avitum’s dialysis centers have been ISO 9001-certified since 2004 and continues to be the only free standing dialysis centers in the country certified with that ISO number.

An ISO certification is used by organizations and companies to show that their operations produce consistent high-quality service and products. Such certification also shows that a company meets local and international regulatory requirements in a consistent manner.

Conversely, the certification also covers dialysis treatment standards where the protocols, procedures, and workflow can be considered industry standard. The ISO 9001:2015 certification covers all B. Braun’s twenty-four centers and main office. Olongapo, Sta. Rosa, Fairview, Quezon Ave., Guadalupe, Mindoro and the Head Office were audited last 25 November 2020, as sample centers for the multi-site certification.

In a message, Fe Judith Santos, Quality Manager of B. Braun Avitum, expressed that “the ISO certification of B. Braun’s dialysis centers underscores our global standard for patient quality service.  Among the key benefits it encompasses are the control of risks by taking appropriate preventive measures, increase motivation of employees, structure for continuous improvement, sustainability through annual audits.  It also have external effects like confidence building measure for customers, reduced work for proof of quality, international recognition for effective management system, improved documentation provides better evidence in the events of liability.“

Furthermore, she added that “with a view to improving the services provided to our patients and better responding to international requirements and criteria on quality and safety, B. Braun Avitum is committed to obtaining certification for the quality of its services and the safety of its patients,”.

According to the National Kidney and Transplant Institute, kidney or renal diseases rank as the 7th leading cause of death in the country. In their latest statistic, one Filipino develops chronic renal failure every hour. While 5,000 Filipino patients are currently undergoing dialysis, diabetes and hypertension are the leading causation of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), or some sixty percent of dialysis patients.
