Canon Inc. and Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. announced the launch in the Philippines of two new interchangeable EF lenses for use with EOS-series SLR cameras; the competitivily priced EF24-105mm f/2.5-5.6 IS STM “pancake” lens, the lightest and thinnest model in the EF-S series lens lineup enable effortless Photo and Movie Capture.

EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

The new Canon EF24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM delivers a high-level of image quality approaching that offered offered by the 24-105mm f/4L IS IS USM (released in September 2005), an L-series (luxury) standard-zoom lens that targets professional users seeking the highest levels of performance. In addition to offering the same angle of view as the L-series lens, the competitively priced EF24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, at approximately 525g, weighs almost 20% lighter, enabling users to agilely capture high-quality images and movies when paired with such full-frame digital SLR cameras as the lightweight, compact Canon EOS 6D (released in November 2013).

Achieving superior imaging performance throughout the entire zoom range, the Canon EF24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM comprises 17 elements in 13 groups, including two GMo (Glass-Molded) aspherical lenses that delivers high image quality to the periphery of the frame, as well as one UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) lens element, which minimizes the occurence of chromatic aberrations. The new standard-zoom lens realizes image stabilization equivalent to approximately four shutter-stops, enabling users to dynamically capture clear, high-quality photos and movies even in low-light conditions.

EF-S24mm f/2.8 STM

The lightest and thinnest lens in the EF-S series, the new Canon EF-24mm f/2.8 STM weighs approximately 125g and features a body depth that, at approximately 22.8mm, measures only a little smaller than one peso coin. Delivering high mobility and convenience, the svelte pancake lens, when paired with Canon’s 100D (released in March 2013), the world’s smallest and lightest APS-C size digital SLR camera, weighs only a total of only about 495g, or just under the weight of a 500ml Pet Plastic bottle beverage.

When used in combination with an APS-C size interchangeable camera, the new Canon EF-S24mm f/2.8 STM offers a 38mm (35mm camera equivalent) focal length for a natural-looking angle of view similar to that of the naked eye, making the pancake lens an ideal companion during vacations and other outings.
